Additional information and brochures are available on the entrance table.Located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Basye, VA, Chalet High is a popular vacation destination for skiers, outdoor enthusiasts, and history buffs looking to enjoy the beauty of their natural surroundings.Ĭhalet High is conveniently situated less than two miles from Bryce Resort, a popular resort complex that features year-round activities such as skiing and snowboarding in the winter and wall climbing, bungee jumping, ziplining, and an 18-hole golf course during the spring, summer, and fall. Skyline drive is within 30 minutes Luray Caverns about 45 minutes and they have horse/pony rides also Shenandoah caverns within about 30 minutes.

Plus it’s only 2 miles from our front door and you probably would not need a reservation. It’s one of the only ones that I know in VA and MD where you can watch them ski down the slope right in front of the large restaurant/bar windows. There are some restaurants there and probably some good ones but Angela and I always find ourselves back at the Copper Kettle at the ski resort. Within 20 minutes there is the town of Woodstock where you can go to the fire tower up on the other mountain across Burnshire Dam and its an easy flat walk along the ridge-line with beautiful views of the valley from above. The lake has a pretty easy walking trail that goes around the entire perimeter about a 2-3 mile hike.

Within 5 minutes of our place is the resort with golf, lake Laura (there is a picture on our listing), mountain biking down the ski trails during the warmer months, zip lining, and of course the restaurant. It is safe with plenty of pathways that are wide but if off the trail then the edge can come up pretty quick. Be sure to have your pup on a leash as you approach the top to the first ridge line and walk the line to the Schloss. (You can see some of the pictures on line). I you like to hike then there is a lot of places Within 15-20 minutes is a great hike called Big Schloss in the National Forest it is aggressive uphill for about 50 minutes but views are incredible. Not sure if the indoors is doggie friendly but in the warmer months they do have an outdoor seating that may be available.
Swover Creek Farm Brewery has good reviews although the only one we have been to is the Woodstock Brew House and restaurant. There is another one called Kindred Pointe close by but we have not been there yet. Within 15-20 minutes are 5 different wineries we like Shenandoah as well as some breweries and a great cider house we like to go (very relaxing and doggie friendly) “Old Hill Cider”. There is a lot to do in the area and we have a lot of info there at the cabin where to go here is a few highlights: Four seasons resort located 1 mile from the house with golf, swimming, canoeing/paddleboards, dining, and hiking. Vacant lots behind us provide added space perfect for privacy and pets.
Fully furnished and equiped with all the must haves and want to haves including deck, grill, cooking implements, and large back yard. Only two miles from the ski slopes, swimming, tennis, golf, boating, fishing, extreme mountain biking, zip lines, and minutes from hiking, wineries, cideries, dining and so much more.
